further on in the lesson James explained the meaning of DB which is decibels not sure if i spelled that write but that is the measurement of pressure within sound 0 and negative numbers being nothing at all unless amplified
he also mentioned the amount of hrs a normal human can hear hrs is the pulls of pressure in noise and sound the average human can hear from 20hrz to 20,000 although James said the max is really 19,000
he game me plenty of examples of producers of sound and sound designers these people are
Royji ikeda
Avalanches
DJ Shadow
Amon Tobin
just to name a few i really had fun today as i want to be a sound designer/producer of sound i need to know more and i have really taken a liking to Royji Ikeda and DJ Shadow
And so it begins my project to design a sound related to the angle of the north photo
At the start i thought about everyone that inspired me hans zimmer, DJ Shadow, Hudson Mohawke DJ Musterd and so on i wanted to copy or sample their work and turn it into my own so i looked at their work
i took a look at the artist kid ink
Hudson Mohawke
DJ Shadow
these peoples sounds and style and art forms inspired me to do more than just sample ironically even though they sampled theres nothing better than having your own sound and identity so in understanding that it wasn't about were i recorded my sound it was more about how i created my sound how did it relate to this angle of the north and how could i pull this off well in knowing that the Scottish tradition features the bag pipe and channeling that into a sound i came up with something on the programme Ableton Live 9 with a mixer and key's and then transporting the created sound to audition and after speaking with James my tutor i decided to push myself a bit more and search for more out of my creation so i used auditions amplify effect and the fade in and fade out points to manipulate how my creation sounds and high and low points of the sound and also the strong points of the creation this was the result
in the end i was happy with what i created it was different and original

More detail is needed Ade to give us an understanding of what you are trying to create and convey through your sound landscape. What did you learn about the Angel of the North? why did you choose it? What did it mean to you? You talk about the techniques you use but not about the concept. You need to slow down and give more thought to your posts. I feel I am being carried along by an avalanche! I fully feel your enthusiasm for the project which is great, but now at the end of your first year it is time to focus and put down more detail of what you are doing and thinking. Believe me it will help you clarify your thoughts and help you progress your skills and ideas to a higher level. If you can add another post here before I finalise marks and feedback on your experimental video and sound work it would give me more to work on. Thanks Anne
